Legal services dedicated to step parent adoption in San Diego County and beyond. Flat legal fees so you know your exact cost in advance, and free Zoom consultations.

When adoption attorney, Randall Hicks, created The Stepparent Adoption Center, it was to make the focus of his law practice clear. Not divorce. Not child custody. Just adoptions. And not even all adoptions, but specifically step parent adoption, with its unique laws and procedures. We view adoption as the ultimate loving act—legally creating a family—and we strive to make the process smooth, simple, and emotionally rewarding. To keep services accessible to everyone, we have a flat fee of $2,500 for step parent adoptions that do not involve issues like an objecting birth parent. The flat fee even includes court fees and our costs, so you know exactly your total cost in advance. And our free consultations are a rarity among attorneys, who usually just do a meet and greet for their version of a free consultation. Our consultations are in depth. We review the legal process and how the unique facts of your case are affected by the laws governing step parent adoption, including complicated subjects like unfindable or non-consenting absent parents.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.
