Richard “Trey” Mattox III was born and raised in Richmond Virginia, attending high school at Benedictine before graduating from Monacan. After high school he graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Tech in 2008 where he double majored in History and Political Science and minored in Real Estate. In 2011, he obtained his Juris Doctorate from Appalachian School of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Trey is a third generation attorney proudly following in the footsteps of his Richard Mattox predecessors. Trey is a dedicated trial attorney who defends clients charged with major traffic crimes and infractions. Mr. Mattox frequently defends individuals charged with Reckless Driving, Speeding, DUI, Driving on a Suspended License, Failure to Yield, Hit and Run, Petit Larceny, Assault and Battery, Underage Possession of Alcohol, Eluding, Following too Close, and Failure to Maintain Control. Trey’s familiarity with the courtrooms throughout central Virginia allows him to provide his clients with the best possible outcomes. This familiarity also provides Trey with the opportunity to communicate accurately with his clients in regard to the expected and potential outcomes for their cases. Mr. Mattox represents clients charged with offenses in Stafford, Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, Caroline, Hanover, Henrico, Richmond, Chesterfield, Prince George, Hopewell, Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Brunswick, Greensville, Emporia, Sussex, Mecklenburg, Prince Edward, Powhatan, Amelia, Essex and New Kent counties. I was driving to Disney with my family from NY. We were going through Virginia and I got a speeding/ reckless driving ticket. I never got a ticket before so this was extremely stressful. I contacted Mattox Law , they handled everything for me and I did not have to take more time off of work to go to court. Upon hiring Trey Mattox, he advised me what he thought I would need to do well in advance of court date (complete driving school and provide driving history). Since I was not able to be present at court, he represented me and was able to negotiate a dismissal of the charges.

NORTH CAROLINA: Mr Mattox and his firm helped me with a ticket 83 in a 70, and got the charges down to Defective Equipment. It was I truly didn't know I was going above the speed limit, since I was driving an unfamiliar vechicle. His Office was on Top of everything and I felt Comfortable with them.

Got back to me super fast and was able to effectively communicate over email quickly. He always kept me in the know about what was going on with my case. I got a reckless driving ticket for going 86 in a 70 zone. He got my ticket down to a 79 so it just became a regular speeding ticket and got whipped off my record. Would use again as the people at his firm are very nice.
