Kim is one of the best divorce lawyers in the area in my opinion. My case involved a high conflict person with personality disorders who manipulated our son and the system to her advantage. After having another lawyer not present my evidence at trial, I hired her. She stands out because she became intimately involved with my case, was available for offering advice on off-hours, knows technology, was realistic, knew how to negotiate, and helped me change my perspective for better results. Kim was able to get me the best results, and now offers an effective and potentially fruitful path forward that may get my son back.

Mike took my pre-existing case when my previous lawyer had a schedule conflict. Right out the gate, Mike made things extremely clear. I have spent two years fearful and worried about my custody case. In just a few days, Mike laid out the VA Code for custody, clearly explaining how things would go and what the rules are. This brought me such relief, as no one had ever done that. He listened to my fears, reassured me with the law, and worked quickly to get up to speed on my case with just about 2 weeks time to work. He was VERY good in the courtroom, his questioning of my ex husband helped show the court his true colors, and ultimately, he helped me protect my children from added time with their unstable and unreliable parent. Mike is an excellent and clear communicator, respectful and kind, has empathy, but gets the job done and knows how to deal with lying narcissists.

I would like to give Mr Daugherty an excellent review. He represented my wife and I in a case involving a family member wishing to impose visitation rights for our children. He was timely, professional, and took the time to understand our concerns. He proved extremely well versed in the areas of family law, was able to translate the “legalese” to layman’s terms and had our interests at heart. I was involved in a controversial separation/divorce. Although I tried to work with my ex toward an amenable resolution and treatment for his addiction issues, my ex's family and the opposing lawyer made that difficult as they proceeded to file multiple fraudulent claims against me. Mr. Daugherty stepped in several times to assist - even going out of his way to inform me of legal proceedings he found out about that were purposely filed by the opposing parties behind my back. Although the opposing parties were highly unethical and attempted to circumvent or delay any proceedings they knew they would be unsuccessful in, Mr. Daugherty was straightforward and honest with me in options to deal with such. Unfortunately, my ex lost his addiction battle and passed away and I continue to fight his family to get the compensation that is owed me and my children; however, Mr. Daugherty's assistance in making sure I safely got out of an abusive situation was worth the cost.
