A History of Excellence

In 1986, after a tenure together in another local firm, Paul E. Rice, Jr. and James L. Rose, 1983 and 1982 graduates of the University of Florida College of Law, respectively, formed the Rice & Rose Law Firm. Philip J. Bonamo earned partnership on January 1, 2009, after four solid years as an associate with the firm. In 2016, James Rose retired after a 30 year successful partnership with Paul Rice. Matthew Shapiro became a partner in November of 2018.

A new era in the firm history occurred

In 2001 the Rice Law Firm took occupancy of its 10,500 square foot office building. The firm purchased an older building on the beachside in Daytona Beach, razed it and constructed a purpose-built state of the art law office. The building has attractive space for up to eight attorneys and provides the platform and resources required to deliver high quality legal services.

Hired Attorney Matthew Shapiro

Matt resolved our dispute with our HOA for us . Not only did he resolve it, but he was able to get a large part of our legal fees back. He was very conscientious of our money when working our case and was always available whenever we reached out to him. We would use him again for any real estate related issue in a heartbeat. I had to use Mr.P. Bonamo, Esq. on a few different issues. I found Mr. Bonamo,to be an excellent lawyer, who takes the time to listen and address the issues in hand on a very professional manner. He also is accessible by phone and in person. He represented me in court, and because of his knowledge of the law, and how he was able to explain my concerns and legal problems I was able to get through that ordeal in a professional way.

After paying in full the day after our initial consultation, Mr Shapiro did not follow through with our agreement or requests to contact us and send documents via email. As explained to him we were moving between households. As a result of him disregarding our initial recorded agreement we were delayed by months. Even after I was able to straighten his errors out, we were sent a document with someone else's information! Who was sent our information? We are finally through the estate process but our parents would have been so disappointed to know the stress we had to incur due to the lack of competence of Rice Law Firm
