Philip Wellner's journey as an attorney began in the bustling legal environment of New York City, where he honed his skills at prestigious firms such as Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP and Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP. During this time, Phil represented both businesses and individuals across diverse civil litigation matters, from breach of contract and real estate to antitrust and professional malpractice. Additionally, his practice extended to defending clients in various criminal investigations and prosecutions, notably in fraud, drug, and weapons cases, with appearances in both federal and state courts throughout New York. He also argued important appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division. In 2012, Phil launched Wellner and Associates PLLC in Hudson, New York, expanding his practice to encompass matrimonial, business, employment, real estate, and estate planning. In 2023, he relocated and rebranded his practice to align with his areas of focus. Phil is a Cornell University alumnus with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural, Resource, and Managerial Economics and holds a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he served as Editor in Chief of the Cardozo Law Review.

Leave a review about your experience with this lawyer. This was the best legal experience I could have imagined. I’m incredibly appreciative of Philip Wellner. I was hit with a sudden divorce—realized on April 28. I reached out May 5, was contacted May 6, and he began even before I had the retainer. By May 13, after I paid, he’d already drafted the case! On May 21, I asked for edits—he heard me, advised me, and we talked it through. That kind of openness and willing to collaborate with a legal advisor is rare. By May 24, everything was signed and submitted! A signature I forgot was included June 11, and when I checked on June 16, the case had already been sent to the judge—he’d even gotten it on the roster back in May! Divorces can take 6 months to years. Mine was drafted, signed, submitted in a month. ONE MONTH. He always responded same or next day, oftentimes following up with me. He listened, calmed my nerves, and honored my concerns. I can’t recommend him enough. If my daughter needed a lawyer, I hope he’s practicing—he is the call.
