Can I sue for getting jumped and assaulted at a bar?

David F. Stoddard
Answered by attorney David F. Stoddard (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at The David F. Stoddard Law Firm
You can certainly sue those who attacked you. However, if they do not own anything, then there is not much point in such a suit. You can sue the owner if you can prove he put the attackers up to it (as opposed to them spontaneously attacking you without any conspiracy on his part), or if you could show that he was negligent in having inadequate security, or in failing to call on his security to prevent the attack.
