David Abramovitz focuses his practice on advising real estate, development, design, and construction industry clients.

For over 30 years, David has been committed to providing cost-effective representation to clients throughout the development and construction industry, from contract negotiation through the litigation and dispute resolution process. Believing the best conflicts are the ones avoided through thoughtful risk-management strategies as well as proactive and collaborative problem solving during each phase of the project, David handles each matter with an informed, client-centered approach.

During the course of his career, David has counseled public and private clients in the U.S. and overseas on construction projects valued over $2 billion. He has a depth of experience in residential, multifamily, mixed-use, and infrastructure projects, as well as commercial construction projects such as offices, hospitality structures, educational facilities, data centers, and museums, including the 9/11 Memorial Museum.

From local projects requiring an access license to protect a neighbor’s property, to international projects owned by government-controlled entities, David’s decades of industry and professional knowledge and experience allow him to help clients effectively and efficiently navigate a multitude of legal issues.

David advises owners, developers, design professionals, contractors, and subcontractors throughout each stage of the project, from planning and contract negotiations to risk management, litigation, dispute resolution, and post-completion matters. He has represented and counseled some of the most prestigious and forward-thinking firms in the industry in negotiations and before trial, appellate and ADR tribunals throughout the United States. David previously served as Associate General Counsel to the New York State Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

David has a broad array of experience representing clients in real estate and commercial transactions and litigation, including operating and partnership agreements, purchase and sale agreements, financing and commercial leases, condominium and cooperative law, and related disputes.

David has written and lectured frequently before industry groups, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA), AIA New York State, the Associated General Contractors of New York, and a multitude of other continuing legal education courses and webinars concerning legal issues relevant to the development, design, and construction industries, including design-build issues, integrated project delivery systems (IPDs), contracts, licensure issues, and ESOPs.
