First I'd like to give a little background about my case. I was transferred here to Chicago in 2009. I had a slip/fall accident that resulted in my driveway at a quad home association on a unit I was renting. I fractured my knee cap and herniated a disk in my low back. After contemplating whether to even purse legal action, I was not sure of a good attorney. I opened the yellow pages and found two high profile lawyers - full page ads, 29 fourth floor offices and the like. After explaining my situation, they were not interested. I was told because slip/fall accidents are very hard to win in court. I asked one of the high profile lawyers if there is anyone that would even want to look at my case, and I was referred to Mr. Ron Wittmeyer. I did some research and found that he was not one of these ambulance chasers you see on the Jerry Springer commercials, and gave him a call. I met with Ron and we discussed my situation. He told me I have a very good case and he was interested in taking it on. For more reasons than one I am so glad I went with Ron. He is not one of those "stuffy" type lawyers, who make you feel like you're bothering him any time you have a question.{para}He made me feel like a friend, someone who genuinely cared not just about my case, but about me and my physical well-being. He always returned my calls promptly, explained things in layman's terms, not in legal jargon, and he always kept me apprised of the case.{para}Fast forward to settlement day. I was told that these types of cases very rarely get settled out of court and they go to trial. The reason being is that they are very hard to win. My case went to arbitration. It is my belief that the only reason it went to arbitration and not a hearing was because of Ron's knowledge and expertise in these types of cases and felt very strongly that we would have a favorable settlement. At the arbitrators office we had a retired chief judge as our arbitrator. He spoke very bluntly that the cases he heard most ended up losing. Not only do you lose the case but you are responsible for all costs incurred by your lawyer such as calling experts, depositions, filing fees etc. Now I am getting worried, I may end up owing money!! Ron told me to relax and put my faith in him.{para}To make a long story short the insurance company's lawyer offered me $15,000; now I am worried. I'm thinking to myself if I can get $30,000.00 I'm running for the door. Ron said trust me, that figure is unacceptable, time to get to work. By the end of the day we settled with the insurance company for over $250,000.00!!!!! I just want to say that if it was not for Ron and his team and all of those years of experience and expertise I would have more than likely lost my case. I cannot thank Ron enough!!! If you need an excellent attorney Ron is your guy! I hope I never have any such type of accident in the future, but I am not erasing him from my contacts list on my phone!

Ron is a very honest lawyer, from the first day he was up front with me about my accident. He was so honest about the money and the best ways to handle the situation. With all the hold ups in regards to the other insurance company and the idiocy of my own manager losing papers that I needed for my case he just always put my mind at ease and kept me calm. He is clear about anything that may happen or problems that may arise and he talks to you in terms that you will always understand. He gives you options that may would work best for you and his opinion on all but still leaves that decision making up to you. He staff was always on hand and on top of every situation. I would recommend his to anyone. I am so thankful for such a nice, great and professional person in what is a difficult situation.
I was a previous client and I retained him for a medical malpractice suit he waited over a year to tell me he was not going to be able to help but please seek further counsel. Right before my statue of Limitations expired..

Martindale Peer Reviews
Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™ are the gold standard in attorney ratings, and have been for more than a century. These ratings indicate attorneys who are widely respected by their peers for their ethical standards and legal expertise in a specific area of practice.

Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.
