Can I marry my boyfriend who has illegal immigration status? How?

Answered by attorney Kevin L. Dixler
Immigration lawyer at Law Office of Kevin L. Dixler
Most counties in Illinois allow a person, even a foreigner who has proof of his or her identity, to get married. If your spouse has proof that he was admitted and inspected, then there is hope that he may be able to eventually be petitioned by you and seek what is called adjustment of status. I strongly recommend an appointment with a competent and experienced immigration attorney. There may be additional complications with the process. Hopefully, you both can overcome those challenges. Good luck. The above is general information, not legal advice, and does not create an attorney client relationship.

Im currently on an H1B exempt, i would really gain some experince (internship) somewhere else. How can I do that

Answered by attorney Alan Lee
Immigration lawyer at Alan Lee Arthur Lee, Attorneys at Law
On your present H-1B exempt status, there is nothing in the immigration laws to prevent you from gaining some experience somewhere else as long as you will be a volunteer only and receive no recompense or other compensation from the place that will give you experience. The organization giving you the voluntary position may wish to check out other federal along with out state and local laws for its own protection. And of course, you must keep maintaining your H-1B position. If I want to go to the Philippines and find a bride what is the fastest way I can bring her home?

Answered by attorney Bruce A. Coane (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Coane & Associates, PLLC
With regard to your question about the Philippines and a bride, it would be nice if it was so simple. Unfortunately, it is a much more complicated process, and, having no income except SSD makes it even more complicated.
