Can I be locked up if I have an f1 visa and stopped going to school?

Christine Victoria Troy
Answered by attorney Christine Victoria Troy (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at The Law Office of Christine Troy
Immigration can detain you while your case is pending however if you are applying for a green card and eligible for it, I don't think it is normal practice for them to hold you at the green card interview stage. It is also very rare, at least in my jurisdiction, for DHS to detain a student violator after filing an affirmative petition.

Can I travel inside the US if I have my deffered action permit?

Answered by attorney Alan Lee
Immigration lawyer at Alan Lee Arthur Lee, Attorneys at Law
As you have already been approved under the DACA program, your departure is deferred for two years and you are allowed to work during that same period of time. If you are encountered by Immigration, you could show your deferred action grant along with the EAD and you would not be arrested unless there was another ground for which you are excludable. If a person is deported for a felony, does that person have any rights in the US?

Answered by attorney Kevin L. Dixler
Immigration lawyer at Law Office of Kevin L. Dixler
This is a serious offense that should have been reviewed by an attorney experienced before the deportation order. However, more information is needed. To schedule an appointment or teleconference.
