Go to court and pick up your paperwork - technically you would not have been served. Attend the August 11 date so you know what's going on and tell the court that you have not been served. She can hand the papers to the sheriff who can serve you in court.

How can my mother present her facts for an upcoming court date for her divorce?

It would be advisable for your mom to have an attorney for her contested divorce.  First she needs to understand her legal rights.  If she needs or wants to respond when served then she only has 30 days to do so or your dad could file a 'default' which may not be in your mom's best interest. California is a community property state and as such if it determined that the property is 'community property' i.e. it was purchased after the date of marriage and before separation, then the property could be sold and equity divided or some other equitable division would be made by the judge. All assets and debts would be addressed in the divorce as well as child custody, visitation and support and spousal support, if there is any.
