For an ncontested divorce, what happens if I do not file a pettition response?

The courts want couples to work it out. The judge usually does not read property settlement agreements. Usually, the parties are asked if they think the agreement is fair and if they are willing to live with it. Other than that, the court is happy if you are happy.

I've been married 10 years and I have a house that inherited from my dad.

Assets that you inherit, that are not marital assets, are not subject to equitable distribution, meaning those assets are not subject to division in a divorce.  The asset would have to be kept in your own name and never commingled with marital assets.  Good Luck.

Do I have to pay balance owed to attorney after court awarded legal fees to be paid by ex-husband?

Answered by attorney Diana L. Anderson
Divorce lawyer at Diana L. Anderson
Your responsibility depends on the retainer agreement you signed with the attorney.  If the agreement says that the lawyer will seek fees form the other party, but if the lawyer can't get the fees from the other party then you are responsible, then that's what happens.  You can always file something with the court to enforce your judgement awarding you fees, and get reimbursed.
