How can a person be allowed to leave jail without paying bond before the case has been heard and determined?

Answered by attorney John F Brennan (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Musilli Brennan Associates, PLLC
The person involved should most assuredly engage in attorney to try to straighten out this mess. It would appear that they have violated the various provisions of their bond and are most probably subject to its revocation, and therefore being jailed.

What kind of charges do I face if a friend of mine breaks into my ex boyfriends car and steals a bunch of his property?

Answered by attorney Jason William Savela
Criminal Law lawyer at The Savela Law Firm, P.C.
If you helped in anyway, then you can be charged - I suspect that knowingly allowing the proceeds of the theft to be housed at your place for a day fits in that description. do the police have to be involved? If you can get the thief to return the property, why do the police ever have to find out? do not talk with police - just say I want a lawyer (no matter what).

Can I get a lesser sentence for a first time possession charge?

Yes, probation is an option. The judge will consider all factors in your situation to fashion an appropriate sentence. You may also be eligible for various drug programs that can lead to a dismissal of the charges.
