How can I help someone who is getting mistreated in prison?

Some prisons like San Quentin, have an ombundsperson who can usually be reached through the warden's office. However, a word of caution. First check with your cousin to see if he wants you to get involved. Your complaining may just bring even more heat down on him.

Can he throw me under the bus in any way to get him out of any trouble while leaving me with more severe conviction?

You definitely need to hire an attorney to represent you. Your friend's attorney may try to allege that the marijuana belonged to you. Your attorney can negotiate a plea bargain with the prosecutor to hopefully get your drug charge reduced to a lesser offense, such as "Littering." My experience is in the St. Louis area courts, so it may be different outside of the St. Louis area. If you end up being convicted of drug possession, it will be on your permanent criminal record and can never be removed. A drug conviction can prevent you from getting a job, renting an apartment, getting accepted into a college, or getting a loan.

Can I get out of the probation earlier and what will happen to me?

Answered by attorney Steven Fairlie
Criminal Law lawyer at Fairlie & Lippy, P.C.
Is your case in PA? I am not familiar with probation for a set term in PA juvenile cases. Usually you get probation and then the department and Judge determine when you get off, as opposed to the adult system of a set time period.
