What do I do if my speeding and driving without license tickets were sent to collections since it was due on September 10?

Answered by attorney Stephen Lewis Freeborn (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Freeborn Law Offices P.S.
Contact the collection company and make arrangements to pay. The amount you have to pay will probably now be higher because of collection costs. Until these fines are paid, DOL will not release your license.

If a person is convicted of a Measure 11 crime and the law changes do they still have to serve the original sentence?

After the fact changes in the law will not change the sentence that was handed down before the changes in the law. The Board of Pardons and Parole will make an adjustment in terms of parole and that will be that. There is nothing else to be done, unless you think pardon and parole are unaware of the charges.

Do I need an attorney to turn myself in for a bench warrant?

Answered by attorney Lawrence Lewis (Unclaimed Profile)

IF you have a warrant, that warrant will not be withdrawn until you are arrested on the warrant. Even the softest judge is not going to understand where you have been for eight years. So, you trying to explain ti by yourself will be futile.
