Sure, just "write a letter" to the judge, how quaint, he'll understand, and this will all go away. Because the judge is fair and on your side. Certainly a letter from you explaining your position will go a long way. Look friend, the system does not work that way. It's an adversarial proceeding with the judge being the referee. If you were to be so naive as to write a letter to the judge all he or she could do with it would be turn it over to the prosecution, as it would be an improper ex-parte communication. And the prosecution could use the statements AGAINST you. Do yourself a favor and retain counsel.
