How do I go forth with filing for bankruptcy?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Dorothy G. Bunce (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at A Fresh Start
Lots of people would like to file, but the better question is whether you are eligible to file, whether you actually need to file, or if something more appropriate is an option. I suggest that you begin by putting together a budget of your income and living expenses and see what you have left over that you could use to pay your debts.

Can I file bankruptcy chapter 7 if I owe $13000 and can't get my license?

There is a lot more to determining whether you can file bankruptcy than just knowing the amount of your debt and one of the repercussions you face as a result of owing the debt. For example, some types of debt cannot be eliminated through bankruptcy, and it would make no sense for you to file if you did not see results.

How can my daughter make her husband pay his share of the bills?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Alan Emmerson Ramos (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Alan E. Ramos Law Offices
Your daughter needs to see a bankruptcy attorney (if she doesn't already have one) and a family law attorney. She has a complex set of issues, starting with the fact that she apparently did not list all of her debts (dividing up the debts did not relieve her of her legal liability for the debts "assigned" to her spouse). This answer was provided as a public service to a question posed on the Law Q & A website. The answer is based on the information provided and is limited to those facts. Furthermore, the answer is based on California law and their application to bankruptcy law in California. Additional information could change the context of the question and materially change the answer.
