If you are in a bankruptcy, then they are in violation of stay. If you are post discharge, how do you have a third, it should have been discharged as well. Call your lawyer.

You always were liable for the loan. You may be able to seek contribution even though there was a bankruptcy by enforcing your property settlement agreement if it covered you appropriately.

Do I have a right to an itemized bill request from the hospital?

Nicholas Carlos Best
Answered by attorney Nicholas Carlos Best (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Detroit Lawyers, PLLC
Assuming your 2012 bankruptcy was a chapter 7 where there wasn't any distribution to any secured creditors, this bill would have wiped out with that bankruptcy. Either the collection agency didn't get notice because you didn't list them or it's a different creditor that bought the debt since then. Either way, there's nothing for them to collect since they didn't miss out on anything from your bankruptcy. Send them a copy of your discharge if they want and tell them that if they continue to contact you that they'll be in violation of the FDCPA and you'll seek damages. Asking them to verify and validate never hurts but you probably don't even need to mess around with that. Shoot me an email if you have any questions.
