How much cost would it be to file for bankruptcy?

Giovanni Orantes
Answered by attorney Giovanni Orantes (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Orantes Law Firm
There is no one answer to your question without knowing the specific facts of your situation. What you should know is that you tend to get what you pay for. The bottom line is that some cases are straightforward, some are not, but you should not think filing is so simple as Bankruptcy attorneys tend to command hourly rates that are higher than those of most other attorneys, which should be an indication of how complex it can get. You need to consult an attorney who explains your options clearly and has a proven track record of successfully discharging debt in hundreds of cases.

Is it best to file Bankruptcy before or after the baby is born?

Answered by attorney Stuart M. Nachbar
Bankruptcy lawyer at Law Office of Stuart M. Nachbar, P.C.
Actually waiting for the child to be born will be a positive as it will increase the number in the household, which means that you have an easier time meeting the means test. Also, if you wait long enough, you can add the additional hospital bills that are not covered by the insurance to the BK.

What are the qualifications in filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy?

Answered by attorney Stuart M. Nachbar
Bankruptcy lawyer at Law Office of Stuart M. Nachbar, P.C.
You should talk to a local NY attorney. If the account is IN YOUR NAME or social then it is accessible in bankruptcy. If you file now, and your name is not on the account then not an issue. He can give you an atm card to the account w/o your name on it. Really want you to go see a bankruptcy attorney.
